Today I was reminded of how easily we can take our health for granted. Several weeks ago, I noticed my foot was sore while running. I took it easy and took some Aleve's and it just wasn't getting better. So, I took my own advice and went to the physical therapist to take a look at it. I didn't want to keep on running and exercising if it was something serious. Seems I have anterior tibialis tendinitis. Basically, inflammation of the tendon that runs under my foot and inside of ankle. In a nut shell, I just need to stretch it really well, ice, heat and anti-inflammatory med.'s.
Why do I share this? Because it is important to listen to your bodies "warning signals". That doesn't mean it is an excuse to stop exercising entirely. But, it is important to rest when necessary or just "tweek" your current work out routine. No one knows your own body better than you do! When in doubt, seek an expert opinion.
